Nine triples turned out for the Half Crown annual Open Triples competition on Sunday 24th July in scorching sunshine. Runners up were another mainly Half Crown team - Dave Hancox and Garth Fletcher, playing with David Mason from Whitnash, who ended up on +28. Pete and Teresa Bingham, playing with Nouri Beladaci were third with four wins, and a scratch Half Crown team of Rosaleen Preston, Jim Patrick and John Emberton were a creditable fourth with three wins.
This competition counted as Round 3 of the West Midlands President's Cup so all of the players mentioned gained points, and Rich, Ian and Janet consolidated their position as leaders of The President's Cup points table, with Dave Hancox and Garth putting in a firm challenge following their success in being runners-up in the Coventry Open Pairs on 31st July, which was Round 4 of the President's Cup.
