Guinness Book of Records

About our Club

We achieved an entry in The Guinness Book of Records for our 24hour Pétanque Marathon in 1999.
Two teams of four started play at 8.00am on 26th June, and completed the Marathon at 8.00am on 27th June. During the 24 hours we played 41 games of triples, scoring a total of 811 points. Strict rules were applied, including the presence of a National Umpire and the need for us to video the entire event. Each player had a one hour break after three hours of play, enabling us to play continuously.

As well as setting a new record for Petanque, now authenticated in
The Guinness Book of Records, we also raised £1476 for two charities – Dogs for the Disabled and the Children’s Ward at Warwick Hospital.
