There was a great turn out at Letton on July 24th/25th for the inaugural British Pétanque Open Mixed Pairs and Singles Championships, including 12 Half Crown members looking for a challenging practice session ahead of their Euro Cup tie in Denmark the following week.
The Mixed Doubles contest comprised 52 teams and the eventual winners after a gruelling day were The Half Crown's Sofiane Lachani who was playing with Merle Sullivan from Kent Region.
There was a shooting contest which was also won by Sofiane.
The Singles contest comprised 52 players and the final was contested by two Half Crown members, Sofiane and Herve Bavazzano, with Herve taking the honours 13-12 in a very tense match.
Another Half Crown member, Martin Baker won a prize for the best performance for an Over-50.
This was a great warm up for the Euro Cup tie, with Jerome Rousseau and Jan Kimpton also playing well.
