Half Crown in Europe

About our Club

The Half Crown first represented
Great Britain in the European Club Championships in 2000. Regrettably, we were unable to progress very far in the light of very strong opposition from Club Elite from Brussels whom we hosted in the Quarter Finals, and who went on to win the European Cup.

We also represented Great Britain in 2001, against
Club Nicolin from Montpelier, France but again were well beaten by the eventual winners of the European Cup.

In 2010 we have once again achieved entry into the European Cup for Clubs, but this time as representatives of the
English Petanque Association through a knock out competition involving every Petanque Club in England.

To become the
2010 English Club Champions we beat teams from the West Midlands, Leicestershire, London, Kent, Essex and Buckinghamshire. and then represented England in the first Round of the European Cup.

This was a three way cup tie between Half Crown, Hvidovre PC (Denmark) and PSC Jarvenpaa (Finland) which went right to the wire, with a single poor end in the final game of the competition, when the score was 9-10, allowing the Fins to snatch the game and the whole contest from out of our grasp.
