Half Crown Petanque Club

A strong Half Crown team faced up to an equally formidable team of International players from the Sports Bar PC, Baldock on Sunday 20th March in the quarter final of the competition to determine which club represents England in the 2011 European Cup. It was a tightly fought contest with both first round triples games going to Sports Bar. In the second round pairs, Jerome Rousseau and Herve Bavazzano held their nerve in a game that was always neck and neck, and came out winners by 13-9. Marcus Hickman and Sofiane Lachani struggled in their pairs game, losing 3-13. Meanwhile Janet Kimpton and Robert Silvy went into an 8-1 lead in their game and having reached 12-6 they were pegged down for five ends and eventually lost 13-12 in a nail-biting finish. So the Half Crown were defeated 4-1. Bad luck guys. Let's hope we do better next year.
