Stratford DC Sports Awards
About our Club
The Half Crown introduced Petanque into the Warwickshire Olympics tournament in 1996 and again in 1998. This prestigious event is contested bi-annually by sports clubs from four of the Districts within Warwickshire. Stratford-on-Avon District Council was represented for the pétanque event by The Half Crown, who were champions on both occasions.
Then, in January 2003 The Half Crown Pétanque Club scooped the prestigious ‘Sports Team of The Year’ award staged by Stratford-on-Avon District Council to celebrate sporting achievement across Warwickshire.
Club Chairman, John Emberton, narrowly missed out on the award of Volunteer/Club Member of the Year.
The following year, 2004, Jerome Rousseau came a close second in the vote for Senior Sports Person of the Year, based on his track record as a GB International.
